A power outage knocked out traffic lights and electricity in the area of K-96 and Rock Road, snarling one of the most heavily traveled parts of east Wichita on the Friday before Christmas.
The outage was reported at 12:17 p.m., a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. More than 2,000 Westar Energy customers were still without power as of 1 p.m.
Officers were directing traffic in the area, and the supervisor said no accidents or injuries had been reported. Most of the affected customers are north of K-96, according to Westar’s outage map.
