Police are investigating a shooting incident that left four bullets in an elderly couple’s home near Murdock and I-135 in Wichita.
Several callers reported hearing shots fired in the area of 800 North Piatt at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Doug Nolte said. Officers found several shell casings in the street, and witnesses reported hearing six or seven shots.
As the investigation continued, officers found a house in the 800 block that had been hit by four rounds. The elderly couple living there were asleep when the shots were fired, Nolte said, and they were unaware of the incident until being notified by police.
Neither the 71-year-old woman nor the 60-year-old man who live at that house were injured, he said. Witnesses told authorities they heard more than one vehicle speed away from the area moments after the shots were heard.
“We don’t know exactly what happened,” Nolte said.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
