A masked man barged into a Church’s Chicken in Kansas City Monday night with a gun so big it looked fake, police said.
When employees didn’t take him seriously, the man said, “You think I’m playin’?” And he fired several shots.
The employees scattered and the gunman fled with no money.
The incident began about 8:30 p.m. at the restaurant at 11500 Blue Ridge Blvd. An employee was sweeping the floor when a man wearing all black, including a black ski mask, confronted him and repeatedly said, “Give me the (expletive) money!”
The employee began to run, so the suspect pointed the gun at him and ordered, “You! Come here!”
The gunman repeated his expletive-laden demand to another employee, who said, “I’m trying! I don’t have the key!” She then ran to the back of the store.
The gunman turned toward other employees, who weren’t sure his gun was real. The gunman fired three shots then fled.
