Pet owners, it’s time to dig out those Santa hats and reindeer ears and snap pictures of your pets for The Eagle’s 12th annual Holiday Pet Photo Contest.
Amateur photographers are invited to capture their dogs, cats, birds, horses or other pets in the holiday spirit and mail or submit the photos online to The Eagle by midnight Dec. 20.
The top three winners, chosen by a panel of judges, will receive gift certificates to a pet store: $50 for first place, $30 for second and $20 for third.
Last year’s first-place winner was Christi Weber of Colwich, for her photo of her rescued tabby cat, Miss Kitty, staring at a Christmas tree.
One or more pets can be in the photo, but no people. Only one entry per household is permitted. If the entrant is not the photographer, she or she must get permission from the photographer before entering the contest.
The winning photos and runners-up will be published Jan. 1 and 7 in The Eagle.
There are two ways to enter:
* Upload your photo at Kansas.com/upload . Be sure to include your name and a daytime phone number. (Your contact information is not for publication, but we need it to contact you if you’re selected as a finalist.)
* Mail your photo to the address below. Include your name and a daytime phone number, and a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you want your photo returned.
