Another chance of showers pops up this afternoon and evening in the Wichita metropolitan area, forecasters say, but that doesn’t mean triple digit temperatures are evaporating.
Highs could reach 104 in Wichita today, according to the National Weather Service. Chances for showers arrive early this afternoon, with the best chances north of a line from Hutchinson to Newton to Eureka.
The heat index is expected to climb near 110 this afternoon, with south winds so light you could measure their speed with one hand. Overnight lows will stay in the 80s, and Monday’s high will again top 100.
In fact, triple digits are expected most of the week.
