WICHITA — A 21-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence for his role in a collision that killed a motorcycle rider on Kellogg near Main in May, officials said.
Joseph Rivera-Serna was also charged with driving with a suspended license in Sedgwick County District Court, according to Sheri Boeken, a spokeswoman with the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.
Kenneth Bailey, 58, died on May 17, two weeks after his motorcycle was struck by Rivera-Serna's vehicle.
An investigation determined Rivera-Serna was driving east on Kellogg at about 4 a.m. on May 3 when he changed lanes and hit Bailey's motorcycle.
Rivera-Serna was later charged with DUI in municipal court.
His preliminary hearing in district court was set for Aug. 4, and his bond was set at $100,000.
