A fight early this morning in south Wichita sent two men to the hospital, authorities said.
Two men were drinking and talking on a porch at a house in the 1600 block of South Yale when one of them became emotional as he talked about friends in the military who had died, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
He became increasingly agitated, at one point punching a wall. His buddy, 49, tried to keep him from injuring himself further by grabbing him and holding his arms, but a fight broke out.
The agitated man, who is 39, took a knife and stabbed the other man in the abdomen. He suffered a head injury in the scuffle, Nolte said.
Both men were taken to a local hospital and admitted. The 39-year-old man will be arrested upon his release from the hospital, Nolte said.
The incident was reported at 1:47 a.m.
