Longtime Wichita fugitive arrested in Florida

WICHITA — A man who has been on law enforcement most-wanted lists for more than a decade has been captured in Florida and will be returned to Wichita to stand trail, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Vernon "Spike" Coleman, 67, was arrested Thursday in Pasco County, Fla., which is on Florida's west coast, on charges of aggravated indecent liberties, aggravated criminal child and sexual exploitation of a child. He is accused of molesting a girl in Sedgwick County 1995.

Coleman, who once operated the Baby Doll's Club at 8025 S. Broadway, has been featured several times on the Sheriff's Office's most-wanted list. He was featured on the "America's Most Wanted" television show in 2004.
