WICHITA — Law enforcement officers issued nearly 90 speeding tickets and arrested six people during a 24-hour enforcement effort focusing on Rock Road, officials said.
The Operation Impact project stretched the length of Rock Road in Sedgwick County and ended at 7 a.m. today, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
A total of 183 violations were recorded, though none of them were for driving under the influence. The list of offenses included 88 speeding citations, 39 cases of running a stop light or stop sign, 12 instances of driving without a driver's license, seven cases of no vehicle registration, two with window tinting too dark and 11 miscellaneous traffic offenses.
The top speed clocked was 65 in a 40, Nolte said, with several other drivers cited for driving more than 50 miles an hour.
The six arrests were for people wanted on felony warrants, Nolte said.
Along with police officers from Wichita, Bel Aire, Derby and Mulvane, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office participated in the project.
