WICHITA — A bullet shot through a bedroom window at a house in Midtown Wichita barely missed a 12-year-old boy, police say.
The boy was lying on his bed playing a video game around 1 a.m. Tuesday, when someone fired shots at the house, which is in the 1500 block of North St. Francis. One bullet broke through the boy's upstairs bedroom window, alerting the boy's mother, Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte said.
The shot missed the boy, Nolte said.
Police found the bullet lodged in the wall.
"A few inches one way or the other and this could have been a homicide," Nolte said.
The boy's mother, 52, told police she did not see anyone approach or leave the house. They were alone in the house, Nolte said.
Nolte said it is still unclear whether the house was targeted.
He asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
