The heat isn't going away any time soon. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning until 7 p.m. Friday for Sedgwick County as high temperatures are forecast in the 100s all week.
The heat index is expected to reach 107 in the region today, according to the weather service, with a high temperature of 103. Winds out of the south-southeast will be about 10 mph.
Temperatures tonight will fall just below 80 degrees in Wichita. The heat continues Tuesday, along with sunshine and south-southeast winds. Highs will reach 104 in the Wichita area.
