WICHITA — Two cars crashed in east Wichita this morning after police called off the pursuit of a person who was believed to have stolen snacks from a convenience store.
Police said a car chase ensued after a person stole three packages of crackers from the Kwik Shop near E. 21st Street N. and Webb Road fled officers. Police caught up with the driver near E. 21st Street N. and Oliver, but the chase was called off due to rush hour traffic, police said.
Shortly after, the driver collided with another vehicle near E. 13th Street N. and Woodlawn, police said. The driver abandoned and fled on foot.
Police said the vehicle was stolen from Junction City. The driver has not been found.
