A fire destroyed a mobile home in south Wichita Sunday night, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 7:39 p.m. at 4480 S. Meridian, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. The family living there was able to escape unharmed, Fire Capt. Stuart Bevis said, but the family's dog died in the blaze.
The fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to the mobile home and its contents, Bevis said. Ashes from a smoker placed in a trash container next to the mobile home started the fire, he said.
