WICHITA — Drivers are reminded that the Lincoln Street Bridge, south of downtown, will be closed starting Monday and through late 2012.
Traffic will be detoured to use Harry, Main and Market streets and McLean Boulevard, the city said.
Work on the $13.7 million project to reconstruct the bridge over the Arkansas River and build a new dam began in mid-March. A boat and fish passage will also be constructed, along with enhancements to the east bank of the river.
Lowering of the river's water level will also begin Monday. The level remain down until the 2012 Wichita River Festival next June, when the new dam is expected to be completed.
