Early June is going to feel like the heart of summer in Wichita over the next several days, forecasters say.
In fact, Wichita will flirt with the record high for June 3 today, with highs climbing to the mid- to upper 90s today under sunny skies. The record high is 98, set in 1972. Southerly winds will be steady in the low 20s, with gusts topping 30 mph.
Overnight lows will settle in the low 70s, and the weekend should continue the theme of sunny and hot. Highs will be in the mid-90s, with south winds at more than 20 miles an hour Saturday but only in the single digits on Sunday.
