A 24-year-old woman remained in the hospital today in fair condition after being struck twice by shots fired Sunday night from outside a house in the 1300 block of North Minneapolis, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police said multiple shots were fired into the house, including two that hit the woman in the arm. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center.
There were six other people, including three children under the age of 5, in the house at the time of the shooting, which occurred about 9:30 p.m. There were no other injuries, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said.
Upon further investigation, police determined that three shots were also fired into an occupied house next door. Two adult women were in that house, but they were not injured, Nolte said.
Police so far haven't categorized the shooting as a drive-by or determined a motive, Nolte said. He said police only know the shots came from outside the houses.
Police had no suspects.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
