Lara Moritz, the lead female news anchor at top-rated KMBC-9, is on an indefinite personal leave of absence from the station.
KMBC-KCWE general manager C. Wayne Godsey said that Moritz had asked for the leave on Monday. In her place, Kelly Eckerman will co-anchor the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. weeknight newscasts on KMBC and the 9 p.m. on KCWE.
Moritz, a native of Wisconsin, has been Larry Moore's co-anchor since 2000.
"We feel we’ll be fine with Kelly and Larry and we hope it will be a matter of a few weeks at most," said Godsey.
