WICHITA — A Wichita police officer remains hospitalized and the man who crashed into him is in jail today after a weekend collision during a pursuit.
Ratwan Norwood Sr., 44, ran a stop sign at 26th and Grove at 1:30 a.m. Saturday while he was being chased east on 26th Street by police, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
He collided with a second police car traveling north on Grove, the highway patrol reported. The police car then struck a tree.
Officer John P. Groh, 43, is in fair condition today at Wesley Medical Center. Officer Travis Stipp, 31, who was also in the patrol car, was injured but is no longer hospitalized.
Norwood has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
