WICHITA — No injuries were reported in a fire that burned in a Rock Road apartment complex for more than a half hour earlier today, authorities said.
The fire was reported at about 12:40 p.m. at Sundance Apartments, 1945 N. Rock Road, and was not put out until 1:18 p.m., a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said.
Flames were visible for a time, and police were sent to direct traffic in the area.
One apartment was heavily damaged in the fire, Wichita Fire Capt. Stuart Bevis said, and five others sustained damage from water, smoke or both.
A half-dozen residents were displaced by the fire, he said.
While a cause has not been determined, the fire caused an estimated $50,000 damage to the building and the apartments' contents.
