WICHITA — A couple of downtown intersections _ including Broadway at English _ have been closed because of a bomb threat, police said.
A homeless man upset that he had been removed from the state office building by security claimed he had a bomb in his backpack shortly before noon, Capt. Troy Livingston said. His backpack was found in a parking lot, and the bomb squad has been called out to investigate.
The intersections of Topeka and William and Broadway and English have been closed to traffic as a precaution, authorities say. Those intersections could be closed for most of the rest of the working day.
The man has been detained for questioning and evaluation, police said.
