WICHITA — Twelve people were arrested and more than 100 tickets were issued during a DUI check lane on Kellogg late Thursday night and early this morning.
The check lane was set up at Kellogg and Meridian, just west of the central business district, between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 a.m. today, officials said.
A total of 922 vehicles were stopped, and 103 tickets were given to violators, police said. Eight drivers were arrested for being under the influence.
Four more were arrested for other offenses, such as driving with a suspended license. One driver had a blood-alcohol content of .172, which is more than twice the legal limit, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
The Kansas Highway Patrol, the Salvation Army and Sedgwick County EMS assisted Wichita police with the check lane.
