WICHITA — A fundraiser lunch for the family of injured Marine Sgt. Jonathon Blank will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka.
The event is being organized by Patrol South of the Wichita Police Department. Blank's mother, Karen, is an officer and works out of Patrol South.
Blank lost both of his legs Oct. 26, when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on foot patrol in southwest Afghanistan. Blank, who is from rural Augusta, is at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Funds are being raised to help with travel and lodging expenses so some family members can stay with Blank. Currently, Karen and Jonathon's twin brother Linden, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, are with him in San Antonio.
Never miss a local story.
The lunch will include brisket, pulled pork and hot links. Minimum donation is $10.
Businesses have donated give-away items for a drawing. Tickets for the drawing are $5 each.
