NEW YORK | The Kansas Jayhawks owned the interior on Tuesday night in a 81-68 victory over the Memphis Tigers in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.
No. 4 KU, now 8-0, punished a talented and athletic Memphis team thanks to a combined 40 points from Markieff Morris (team-high 16), Marcus Morris (14) and Thomas Robinson (10 points, 10 rebounds). Tyshawn Taylor added 13.
With the game tied 39-39 early in the second half, the Jayhawks went on a 9-0 run to take control of the game and never looked back. KU overcame a sloppy first half that included 12 turnovers.
