CAMDENTON, Mo. | A hearing is set for next month in mid-Missouri to determine whether a 12-year-old boy will be tried as a juvenile or an adult on charges of killing his mother and stepfather.
The Chief Juvenile Officer in the 26th Judicial Circuit, Tammy L. Walden, says the certification hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.
The boy is accused of shooting Rachael Duncan and Jaeson Duncan on July 5 in their mobile home in the small Miller County town of Kaiser.
KRCG reported that the boy told neighbors he was being abused by his stepfather.

The boy is being detained at a facility in Camdenton.
Calls to juvenile officials seeking to determine whether the boy had an attorney were not immediately returned.
