WICHITA — Two apparently intoxicated drivers collided shortly before midnight Friday, sending both to the hospital, police said.
A Wichita police officer attempted to stop a man for speeding on his motorcycle near Douglas and Hillside. But the motorcyclist kept going and ran a red light at 13th Street and Hillside, Sgt. Donald Kimball said today.
The motorcyclist was struck by another vehicle. Police believe both drivers were intoxicated, Kimball said.
Both men were taken to Wesley Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown, but Kimball said the motorcyclist had to have a leg amputated.
Blood tests were to be taken to determine the level of intoxication for both men, Kimball said.
