TOPEKA | The Kansas Board of Regents says enrollment at state universities, community colleges and technical colleges increased 1.8 percent this fall compared with fall 2009.
The board says total enrollments at seven universities, 19 community colleges, six technical colleges and the University of Kansas Medical Center topped 187,000 students this fall. That's 3,200 more than in fall 2009.
Technical colleges posted the best gain as a group, seeing enrollments rise 5.7 percent. Enrollments at university campuses increased four-tenths of 1 percent.
The University of Kansas' main campus in Lawrence saw its enrollment decline 2.1 percent, to about 26,000, with 560 fewer students this fall. Kansas State University's enrollment stayed at about 23,600 students.
