TOPEKA — The Kansas secretary of state race is heating up in its final days.
Republican nominee Kris Kobach said today that the state's voter registration rolls could contain the names of hundreds of dead people.
He cited a report by KSHB-TV in Kansas City about registered voters' names appearing to match lists of deaths kept by the federal government.
But a spokesman for Democratic Secretary of State Chris Biggs said a quick review of the data shows the number of potential matches is actually much lower.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's executive director filed an ethics complaint over what it called questionable contributions to Kobach. The GOP nominee says he's confident there are no problems.
