A Driving Under the Influence check lane late Friday by local law enforcement authorities stopped 402 vehicles on West Kellogg near west 111th Street.
The checklane was conducted from 11 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Steve Yarberry, spokesman with the Wichita PoliceDepartment.
Of the 402 vehicles stopped, three people were arrested for DUI and four persons for transport of an open container. Police issued 36 citations, Yarberry said.
The checkpoints are routinely scheduled four to six times a year to remove impaired drivers from the roadways and to educate the public aboutthe problems with impaired driving.
Members of the Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and police departments fromGoddard and Park City conducted the DUI lane.
