A man shot Friday by a Johnson County sheriff deputy is in custody at an area hospital this morning but has not been charged.
“We have people watching him at the hospital,” said Tom Erickson, master deputy with the county. “He will be charged later.”
Erickson would not identify the man or the deputy, who received minor injuries. Investigators had not yet interviewed the officer this morning, Erickson said.
According to the earlier account, the man’s behavior triggered an erratic-driver call Friday. He fled when another deputy attempted to stop his vehicle.
The shooting came around 7 p.m. after a second deputy spotted the car near 151st Street and Moonlight Road in southern Johnson County. The driver’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
