KANSAS CITY | Kansas City police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on a playground behind a closed school.
Police Capt. Rich Lockhart says the man appears to have been shot. The death has been declared a homicide.
KMBC-TV reports the body was discovered around 6:50 a.m. Friday on the playground behind Woodland Elementary. The school is one of several that were closed this summer by the Kansas City district.
The body was found by a carpenter working on a construction job nearby. Authorities are trying to identify the man.
