Forecasters from the National Weather Service call for rain and thunderstorms throughout the day in the Wichita area and across south-central and southeast Kansas.
A strong storm system moving in from the southwest could bring severe weather by tonight, meteorologists say.
The high temperature is expected to hit 71 with south winds between 10 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
The best chance for severe weather comes tonight, with storms capable of producing 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail.
Saturday brings a 20 percent chance of showers with lingering storms throughout the area and wind gusting as high as 33 mph. The sun could come out and a high near 78 is expected.
The sun looks to return by Sunday with a high near 73.
Lows tonight, Saturday and Sunday nights are expected in the 50s.
