WICHITA — Intrust Bank Arena officials said today they have added 13 temporary handicapped parking spaces to the arena's property.
The additional spaces are located on the north side of the arena in the north end of Parking Lot 3. They will be marked with cones and signs labeled Temporary Accessible parking.
That will bring the total of handicapped on-site parking spots to 37.
Because of show production, arena officials said there might be shows where the temporary spots will not be available. But the spaces will be available for Wichita Thunder games. The Thunder opens its season Saturday.
Never miss a local story.
Some Thunder fans complained last season about a lack of on-site handicapped parking. Arena officials said they have worked with the Wichita/Sedgwick County Access Advisory Board to solve the problem.
All accessible parking requires an ADA placard and an identification card.
The charge for handicapped parking for all events is $4. This applies to handicapped parking in city-owned and city-managed lots and on-site arena parking.
In addition to the 37 handicapped spaces on arena property, the city of Wichita recently added four spaces on the east side of Emporia, just north of William, and additional spaces in Parking Lot A at 171 S. Emporia.
