LAWRENCE | The University of Kansas has placed Phi Gamma Delta fraternity on probation for two years after a hazing investigation.
The school announced the disciplinary measure in a news release today.
Matt Fritzie, of Stilwell, was injured Sept. 17 at a party held by the fraternity. Chris Fellows, who attended the party, told the Lawrence Journal-World previously that Fritzie initially was paralyzed from the chest down after he jumped into a makeshift pool. Fellows said the fraternity made a pool by lining sandbags in a parking lot, putting a tarp inside and filling it with water from a hose.
The probation includes requiring alcohol-free housing through the 2011-12 school year and requiring community service hours for all chapter members.
