WICHITA — Nicholas Reichuber was in trouble even before his car entered the sharp curve near 135th Street West on Central early this morning, police said.
Evidence suggests Reichuber, 23, lost control of his car as he was coming west on Central and approached the series of curves past 119th Street West in far west Wichita, said Lt. Joe Schroeder of the accident follow-up unit.
Reichuber's car hit a guardrail, and the force of the impact threw him out of the passenger window and onto Central.
He was not wearing a seat belt, Schroeder said, and he died at the scene. His body was found by a paper carrier at about 3:40 a.m.

Officers working the case did not initially realize Reichuber had been involved in a crash because his Honda sedan had continued another several hundred feet before coming to rest on its side, partially submerged in a creek.
Excessive speed was clearly a contributing factor in the crash, Schroeder said.
Reichuber lived not far from where he was killed, Schroeder said.
