WICHITA — A man who went to check on a house owned by his wife didn't see anything amiss _ until he noticed the window next to the kitchen had been forced open.
When he went back around to the front of the house in the 5100 block of East Pine at about 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, the 57-year-old man was met by a burglar coming out of the house, police said. The man took off running, but tripped and fell.
That allowed the suspect to catch up to him. The man was hit in the head with a gun as he lay on the ground and then robbed of $40 in cash.
The suspect is a black man who is 6-feet-1 and about 220 pounds, the victim told police. He was wearing a green button-up shirt and blue jeans.
