WICHITA — Two people attempted to robbed the Credit Union of America in southeast Wichita late this morning, authorities said.
Authorities say the armed suspects walked into the branch near Harry and Webb at 10:57 a.m., dressed entirely in black and wearing masks.
One was armed with a pistol and the other with what appeared to be an AK-47.
A customer walked into the credit union shortly after the robbers, who were startled and chased the customer out of the building, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. They may have left without any money, she said.
The robbers left in a Chevy Impala, then apparently stole a burgundy Dodge Intrepid from the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at Kellogg and Zelta, the supervisor said.
The Impala has been found and is being investigated by authorities.
