COLUMBIA | A 7-year-old Columbia girl who was run over by a trailer during a weekend holiday parade is improving at a hospital.
The Columbia Missourian reported Shianne Nesmith was in good condition Monday after she was pulled under a church float in the Sunday parade. The Columbia Daily Tribune reported that Shianne was a part of the Fairview United Methodist Church's Little Bethlehem float.
The 6-by-8-foot trailer was being pulled by a truck. Police say Shianne's clothing got caught on the trailer when she approached it to get more coins that participants were handing out. She was run over by a tire, injuring her left side.
