WICHITA — Police said today they are continuing to investigate a grenade placed near a local bakery.
Lt. Doug Nolte said investigators are looking for anyone who might have seen someone near the Sara Lee Bakery at 2530 Southeast Blvd. on Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
A manager called police about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday after seeing a suspicious device near the bakery.
After an officer checked the area, the bomb squad was notified. Nolte described the device as a WW II-era grenade that had been altered.
"It was a live grenade," Nolte said.
Police are urging anyone who may have information to call Crime Stoppers, 316-267-2111.
