Wichita school board members will hear an update tonight on a program intended to address behavior issues in schools.
In July, the board approved spending as much as $480,000 on training and materials for the Safe & Civil Schools program. This school year, 12 facilitators are providing 27 days of training for teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators.
The program is part of a four-year, two-prong approach called the Multi-Tiered System of Supports, designed to improve both the learning environment and schools' academic performance.
During tonight's meeting, Suzanne Hays, a facilitator with Safe & Civil Schools, will update board members on the program.
