The winds that whipped around the region on Sunday will return again today, forecasters say, along with highs in the 70s under sunny skies.
Southerly winds will be steady in the teens, with gusts to nearly 30 miles an hour. The risk of grassland fires will be high throughout central and south-central Kansas today, thanks to dry conditions and the robust breezes.
Overnight lows will dip only into the upper 40s, forecasters say, and Tuesday should be much like today for the Wichita area. Highs should reach the low 70s under sunny skies, with gusty south winds.
A cold front brings with it a chance for showers – and markedly cooler temperatures – later this week.
