JEFFERSON CITY | The risk of wildfire is high this week in rural areas of western Missouri.
The state Department of Conservation says a relatively dry October and the presence of drying leaves and grass combine for an elevated risk.
The agency says residents and campers should not burn leaves and trash outdoors and that they should report suspicious activity.
Rain on Monday helped the fire danger some in a few parts of west-central Missouri. But the Truman Lake region is particularly dry.
