LAWRENCE | A section of the newly expanded student recreation center at the University of Kansas remains closed after a broken sprinkler head dumped water on it over the weekend.
The Lawrence Fire Department was called Saturday afternoon after large amounts of water were dumped on the floor of the David A. Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center. The center was closed for hours on Saturday. Part of it has reopened, but a section of it will remains closed.
Jill Urkoski, the associate director of fitness and staff development, says the section that includes a golf simulator, multi-use courts, racquetball courts, martial arts studio and part of the track will be closed for a day or two.
