Kansas City, Kan., detectives investigated two apparently unrelated homicides this morning but could not yet release the names of the victims.
The first was reported about 6 a.m., when officers were called to the 2000 block of South Mill Street on a shooting call.
In a written statement, Sgt. Emmett Lockridge said police found a male victim who had died of a gunshot wound.
About 8:30 a.m., police received a second call, this one in the 1800 block of South 55th Street. That victim also had died of a gunshot wound.
Officers detained a “person of interest” in the shooting on South 55th Street, Lockridge said.
Police said they would release the victims’ names after they have been positively identified and families have been notified.
The department’s Major Case Unit asked anyone with information on the cases to call 913-573-6020 or the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-8477.
