KANSAS CITY, Mo. —Majors Charles and Sharon Smith are the new divisional commander and director of women's ministries, respectively, for the Salvation Army, Kansas and Western Missouri, the organization announced today.
The division is headquartered in Kansas City and encompasses Kansas and 10 counties in western Missouri.
The Smiths, who were both born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., were commissioned and ordained as Salvation Army officers in 1978. They have served in various positions throughout the Midwest, including in Wichita earlier this decade.
Most recently, they served as divisional commanders for the Salvation Army's Heartland Division, headquartered in Peoria, Ill.
