Jill Caputo, a Wichita native whose spirited recovery from the effects of having a stroke at the age of 11 inspired many, was killed earlier this week while crossing a Florida street in her wheelchair.
Caputo, 30, was struck Tuesday morning in Tallahassee by a Florida State University student driving an SUV, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
A graduate of Kapaun Mount Carmel, Caputo received a bachelor's degree in English literature and theater from Kansas State University in 2004.
