WICHITA — The U.S. Justice Department has targeted more than 60 hunters nationwide for allegedly poaching deer during guided hunts at a club in Comanche County in south-central Kansas.
The scope of the grand jury investigation was revealed Monday in a court filing in the related case against the owner of Camp Lone Star and his brother, who works there as a guide. Camp Lone Star is located in the town of Coldwater.
James Bobby Butler Jr. and Marlin Jackson Butler, both of Martinsville, Texas, were indicted in May on federal charges of conspiracy and the unlawful sale and transport of wildlife.
Marlin Butler has pleaded not guilty. A lawyer for James Butler says the allegations are false.
