FORT RILEY — Joseph Westphal, undersecretary of the Army, will visit Fort Riley today.
Westphal, the Army's second-highest ranking civilian, will tour a Fort Riley school and discuss educational issues with Army leaders, USD 475 officials and families of schoolchildren. He has a long career in academia, including 12 years as a faculty member at Oklahoma State University.
It is his first visit to Fort Riley since taking office in September 2009. He previously served as acting secretary of the Army in 2001.
He will conduct a news conference after his tour at about 2 p.m.
