A stretch of Douglas west of Seneca remains blocked as firefighters wrap up work on a house fire this morning, authorities said.
A house at 129 N. Charles caught fire shortly after 6 a.m., a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. The family was able to escape, and firefighters were able to put the fire out in less than an hour.
However, westbound Douglas at Charles remained blocked shortly before 7:30 a.m., impeding rush hour traffic in the area.
A cause for the fire and damage estimate have not been released.
