WICHITA — A 3-year-old boy who was the subject of a search this afternoon in the 4100 block of South Seneca has died.
Police found the boy at the bottom of a small lake behind an apartment complex. He was rushed to Via Christi on St. Francis where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the boy was found in 20 feet of water by scuba divers from the Sedgwick County rescue team.
The incident began when the manager of the apartment complex was notified about a small child near the water. When the child was returned home, his parents realized his 3-year-old brother was missing.
Police received a call of a missing child about 3 p.m. Officers, assisted by search dogs, scuba divers and a helicopter, began a search for the boy. He was pulled from the lake about 5 p.m.
