JEFFERSON CITY | Attorney General Chris Koster says a Fulton-based group that claimed to help domestic violence victims has been ordered to shut down its website and stop soliciting donations.
Koster says the Battered Mother's Resource Fund, owned by Phillip Baney of Fulton, claimed it offered several services but actually did nothing for domestic violence victims.
Koster says the group's website will be shut down and solicitations will be stopped immediately. And it has until Oct. 31 to dissolve its corporate existence.
The attorney general says he especially wanted to emphasize that all domestic violence shelters in Missouri accept children. He says BMRF often told people who were seeking help that most domestic violence shelters separate mothers from their children, which is false.
